The tournament consists two phases - a group stage and a knock-out phase. Eight groups of four teams compete in a 3 match league competition. The top two teams from each group will progress to a 16 team knock-out phase with the winning finalist receiving the McQuillan Cup. The third and fourth placed teams from each group will have a chance at honours by playing for the McQuillan Shield.
A win in the group stage earns you 3 points.
A draw in the group stage earns you 1 point.
A whistle or horn will signal the beginning and end of each match.
Each group will be allocated a pitch on which to play - look for your group table at the entrance to your pitch - it is your responsibility to fill it in.
The Tournament Steward will collect all tables at the end of the group phase and announce the progression to Cup and Shield.
In total each team plays a minimum of four matches - 3 in the group stage, and at least 1 in the knock-out.
If 2nd and 3rd placed teams are tied on points AND goal difference - a short penalty shoot-out will commence with the losing side being the first to miss. The winning side will proceed to the Cup, and the defeated side proceeding to the Shield.
